iPhones have sold like crazy around the world, and supply chain firms have naturally demanded their share. Chinese (and Taiwanese) firms occupy a small part of the supply chain, mainly chip casting (TSMC) and assembly (Hon Hai Precision, Foxconn). Around USD 6.54 of the total cost of making an iPhone4 (USD 187.51) can be attributed to Chinese firms, which is not even 1% of one iPhone’s retail price. Such a tasty cake, but only a tiny morsel for China…
