Since reform and opening, China’s economic efficiency has grown rapidly, thanks to low production costs. But now, housing costs are higher and higher, and wages are on a similar trajectory. Production is starting to become expensive. This poses a huge threat to China’s cost advantage. Dealing with this threat is a very real problem.
